Freedom and Imprisonment, Etching, 48 x 66.5 cm, 1985
A FEW FRIENDS asked me to post some of my artwork online, and I thought it was a timely idea since my adventure in corporate America is now over. This page shows some of the pionnering computer-assisted artwork that I did between the mid-1980s and mid-1990s. The plan is to develop this sampling of my artwork into a more complete kerlow.com website. But for now this is all there is, while I am busy developing a movie and writing another book. These computer-assisted etchings were unique in the mid-1980s, as they combined computer-controlled elements with hand-drawn elements. They were exhibited for the first time at the Joan Miro Foundation/Center for Contemporary Art in Barcelona in 1986. The Computers, Pyramids and Hearts article (PDF file, 656 KB) explains some of the basic techniques used in my computer-assisted printmaking work. It appeared in the Fall 1994 issue of Contemporary Impressions, the journal of the American Print Alliance.
